Across the country, RHIOs like NY Care Information Gateway are working to change this. They make it possible for doctors to get the health information they need, where and when they need it.

The New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC, pronounced “Nice”) is a not-for-profit organization, working to improve healthcare for all New Yorkers through health information technology (Health IT). To achieve this goal NYeC has partnered with the New York State Department of Health to create an electronic health records network to provide access to patient information in the state of New York. This network, which is governed by NYeC, is known as the Statewide Health Information Network of New York or SHIN-NY (pronounced “shiny”).
NY Care Information Gateway is a not-for-profit organization that is a member of the SHIN-NY. Under this affiliation, NY Care Information Gateway is funded by New York State to build and participate in an innovative public network designed to give doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers access to clinical information from providers across the state.
